For the first time, adidas asked for fan input for the third shirt design. The result is a perfect salute to the club's pride and rich history.
In front of Old Trafford sits the United Trinity statue, the images of the legendary "Holy Trinity" of Manchester United forever captured in bronze. Sir Bobby Charlton, George Best and Denis Law all won European Footballer of the Year awards, and all three were part of the Reds team that won the 1968 European Cup/Champions League, United's first. Unveiled in 2008, on the 40th anniversary, the statue honors that victory and those players.
The outline of the statue, with Denis Law in the middle, arm raised, is part of the design, and was inspired by a fan submission.
The jersey is light grey, with darker grey on the cuffs and collar. The team badge is sewn on. The image is created with mini dots and covers the lower front panel. An additional smaller image can be seen near the left hem, the outline of the famous statue of coach Sir Matt Busby.
